Hoops for Hope

raises over $15,000 for the HDF!
*Hoops for Hope,* the annual Mike O'Brien Invitational basketball
event, will take place Dec. 22 at Laker Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus.
The event is named in memory of Oswego's Mike O'Brien, who on May

effort to raise funds for, and awareness of, the Hereditary Disease
Foundation (HDF).
All net proceeds from the Hoops for Hope event will benefit HDF.
Events on Dec. 22 will include a youth basketball clinic, varsity boys
basketball games, a game played by alumni of Bishop Cunningham and

HDF family sends condolences to
O'Brien family after tragedy strikes Mt Everest expedition:
02 May 2005 -
Our very deepest sorrow and sadness go to the O'Brien
family. Our thanks to them for raising awareness of needed research for such a
critical cause. HD kills, just like Mt. Everest. The two brothers were climbing
the summit together to help find the cure.
HDF Everest Expedition:
O'Brien's Everest -
We are seeking to become the first American
brothers to summit Mount Everest together, which we hope to accomplish in the
spring of 2005. Our intent is to raise money for the Hereditary Disease
Foundation, which funds scientific research seeking cures for diseases such as
Huntington's, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's. It is one of the most highly rated
charities in the US, and is of personal significance to us, having lost several
family members to Huntington's Disease.
