Michael C. O’Brien, 39 and a
resident of Seattle, Washington and formerly of Oswego, NY died
Sunday May1, 2005 while climbing Mt. Everest with his brother
Christopher O’Brien. Michael was born in Oswego and was the son of
Dr. David D. O’Brien Jr., and the late Alice Mack O’Brien who died
in 1996. Mr. O’Brien was educated in Oswego schools and was graduate
of Oswego State University, he received his Masters Degree in
International Relations from Syracuse University. He was employed as
a mountaineering instructor, a whitewater rafting guide and
bartender with the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks Michael is
survived by his longtime partner and soulmate Rebecca Stodola of
Seattle, Washington his father Dr. David D. O’Brien Jr. and his
father’s wife Joan Jackson both of Oswego, two brothers David
O’Brien III of McLean, Virginia and Christopher O’Brien of
Haddonfield, NJ, three sisters Kathryn Caltabiano of Phoenix, NY,
Meghan Donaldson of Summit, NJ and Alice Ross of Sunnyvale,
California, family members, Cynthia Chapman of Occoquan, Virginia,
Tyler Chapman, of Stowe Vermont and Protus Mayunga of Haddonfield,
NJ., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother he
was predeceased by a sister Diane Barry. Funeral services will be
Thursday 10:30AM in St. Mary’s Church. In lieu of public calling
hours the family invites all friends to a reception at the American
Foundry immediately following the Mass, to share a celebration of
Michael’s life. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The
