2007 Mike O'Brien Scholarship Winners
The 2007 Mike O'Brien Scholarship have been announced:
- Ben Shortslef - Hannibal High School
- Connor Sweeney - Bishop Ludden High School
- Derek Trail - Fulton (G.Ray Bodley High School)
- Cammeo Lazzaro - Oswego High School
On May 1, 2005 Michael O'Brien fell to his death while attempting to summit Mt. Everest in an effort to raise funds for, and the awareness of, the Hereditary Disease Foundation (HDF), a non-profit organization which funds research to cure hereditary diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Huntington's diseases. Michael along with his brother Christopher were attempting to become the first American brothers to summit Everest together.
Last years recipients Andre Knighton (Bishop Ludden) and Zach Fayette (Oswego High School) will be on hand to present the awards to this years winner
The scholarship sponsors for 2007 are Pathfinder Bank, Fulton Savings Bank, Alliance Bank, and Community Bank.
